Longs: holding a stock in the anticipation of a rise. Shares and other securities or commodities are held with the expectation that prices will rise. (Encarta)

Investing in longs is one of the best ways to make money. Like everything in life, good things take time to develop. There are no exceptions with Longs. Companies with solid balance sheets and aggressive business strategies also take time to grow and mature in the market. Remember, nothing happens overnight. Even though the price of a stock may skyrocket in one day, the increase in value reflects many hours of hard work and effort put forth by the company. Read the rest of this entry »

Two New CANSLIM Speculative Swing Longs, Three New Speculative Swing Longs, And Four Longs I Am Adding To My Existing Positions

ANALYSIS UPDATED BEFORE 6AM EST.

new speculative CANSLIM swing longs: LXU CPD

LXU is bouncing off recent support on very strong volume. This chart is very pretty with all the max green BOP and heavy accumulation the past year plus. Cut your loss with a close below the 19.02 level, if the stock does not move higher immediately. Read the rest of this entry »

Two New Speculative Swing Longs And Five Stocks I Am Adding To My Existing Positions

new speculative swing longs: AKS ARWR

AKS is bouncing off support and breaking out past the past two weeks of closing highs, on below average volume. I am basically getting in this early in anticipation of a breakout as a weekly chart shows how tight and coiled this stock is after the recent run-up. The max green BOP on the chart is beautiful but today it did move down from max green so that kind of kills the buzz. The one thing that can’t be ignored is all the accumulation in this chart this year. Fund ownership has increased from 68 to 83 so that is where all of that is coming from. EPS grew 700% this quarter and YOY EPS gains of 858% are expected this year and sales have grown between 1% and 20% the past five quarters. This is not the best long for emotional inexperienced traders as the stock is a bit volatile. Cut your loss with a close below the 32.25 level, if the stock does not move higher immediately. One New CANSLIM Swing Long, One New Speculative CANSLIM Swing Long, Two New Speculative Swing Longs, And Five Stocks I Am Adding To My Existing Positions

CHARTS AND ANALYSIS BEFORE 6AM EST, LIKE ALWAYS.

new CANSLIM swing long: GSOL

GSOL is breaking out of a cup with handle pattern, on very strong volume. This chart is very nice with the accumulation in it from December to February and from April to now. But there are some problems with the chart. The RS line and moneystream line are not following price to new highs, the last breakout attempted was met with an immediate reversal, and BOP was pretty ugly in February and is only just now going green for the second time this month. So the chart isn’t that spectacular, other than the breakout itself. The fundamentals are very strong, with EPS growing between 50% and 73% the past three quarters and sales growth between 7% and 62% the past eight quarters. Earnings estimates are for a YOY gain of 39% this year and 34% next year. ROE is 18% and management owns 63% so there is plenty of reasons for this stock to continue higher, although it is sure to be a very volatile ride. So unless you can deal with some volatility, I wouldn’t load the boat on this one. Cut your first loss with a close below the 18.90 level and your final loss with a close below the 50 dma, if the stock does not move higher immediately. Read the rest of this entry »

One New CANSLIM Swing Long, One New Speculative CANSLIM Swing Long, One New Speculative Swing Long, And One Long I Am Adding To My Position

new CANSLIM swing long: RRST

RRST is bouncing off recent support near the 50 dma and the early May’s breakout pivot point, on average volume. What makes this bounce so nice is that it is around three key support areas, there is a ton of accumulation since the May breakout, and BOP is max green and has been since the 18th. Fundamentals are extremely strong with EPS growing between 50% and 200% the past five quarters and sales growing between 29% and 47% the past eight quarters. Fund ownership has increased from 9 to 10 the past two quarters and management owns 52% of the stock. So obviously the big boys like this one. Cut your first loss with a close below the 16.25 area and your final loss with a close below the 50 dma, if the stock does not move higher immediately. Read the rest of this entry »

One New Speculative Swing Long And One CANSLIM Stock I Am Adding To My Existing Position

new speculative swing longs: XRA

XRA is breaking out above the May resistance from this short cup pattern, on very strong volume. The breakout is very nice due to BOP being very green during the base and on the breakout, along with the extremely strong volume surge after the very quiet volume in the base. However, the fundamentals are horrible and non-existent. Therefore this is not a good long for emotional inexperienced investors. Cut your first loss with a close below the 2.22 level and your final loss with a close below the 50 dma, if the stock does not move higher immediately. Read the rest of this entry »
